Let’s jump right into unpacking this whole body type discussion.

There are many body types in the world and plenty of fashion trends to suit them. And not everyone may fit neatly into a particular category.

However, there are a few core body types that are more common in women. Today, we are going to go over the different body shapes and learn how we can dress to look amazing and feel even better with the bodies that we have.

Instead of going through all of the female body shapes at once, I’m going to list out the main body types and a few outfits that will help you look your best.

So, let’s take a look at the first body type.

Petite body type

To know if you fit this body shape, you only need to be aware of a few things. Being petite doesn’t always mean wearing small sizes. It means that most pants sizes are too long for you. You will want to choose the shortest sleeve possible to have a shirt fit comfortably and professionally.

Not just that but if you are a skirt-fan, then the mini-skater skirt. It is light and flowy and at the same time, let’s you show some leg so that you don’t look too squatty and “hidden” behind bulky fabric.

You should choose cropped shirts if you are looking for a more fitting look. But you can also embrace your height and body size by wearing a long coat with whatever you decide to wear. You can also wear off the shoulder shirts and dresses so that when the sleeves are bit longer, it looks more like a fashion statement. As for the jeans. you should choose a wide leg style for a flattering look. And skirts are always an option as well.

Tall body type

If you are taller than 5’7″, you fall into the tall category in the way of fashion fit. You also fall into this category if you find that normal sized shirts and pants are usually too short on you. If you can’t wear a mini dress for anything but a shirt, you are a tall girl.

V-necks will be your best friend. As will tailored jackets, they don’t have to be tailored professionally, but they should fit as if they were customized for you.

Higher waist jeans will come in handy when you need to wear pants and you can’t afford to have longer jeans made just for you. You can also choose a wrap dress when you are tall and it will make you look very professional at your next business meeting. As we all know, the wrap dress is a win-win-win…fashionable for work, suitable for cocktails after-hours, and delightful for home and jaunts around town!

Plus-Size body type

This is actually one of the more popular female body shapes (and more of us are embracing our curves!). Having a plus-size body has gained a lot more positivity in recent years, meaning you have a growing list of enchanting options for clothing and general apparel. Accentuate with some accessories and you’re a super star!

Structured tops and V-necks work perfectly for plus-size body types. The structured top will form your body perfectly, and the V-neck will flow naturally with you as you move. Waist length jackets are perfect for you. Midi skirts are very flattering for plus-size bodies, but flowing dresses are a great alternative if you want something a little bit loose.

Triangle body type

If you have larger shoulders and a smaller waist, you fall under the triangle body type. This might be something that you have had problems with in the past when looking for the right outfit, but don’t give up hope just yet. The outfits are getting cuter and clothing manufacturers are hearing our pleas for more styles for more of us!

  • Styled tank tops are great for triangle types because it helps create a more hourglass figure.
  • Cropped jackets and sweaters will compliment your shoulders because of how it will hold.
  • Flared jeans will widen out at the bottom of your legs and will even out your beautiful silhouette.

Hourglass body type

The hourglass body type is just as the name suggests; shaped as an hourglass. Shoulders are out and taper into the waist and then you curve out again at the hips and upper thighs. A healthy and lovely physique! This was, once upon a time, touted as the ideal body type for women.

But now we have a lot of different body shapes and we’re all growing more beautiful in our skin.

Lovely, high-waisted jeans. They’re snug, they look like you just walked off a photoshoot or off the fashion line, and they accentuate your delightful curves (hips and all!). Let them revel in your hourglass charisma.

Also of particular hourglass complement is the fitted shirt with a stylish keyhole. These shirts usually have a button at the very top to allow a small area of the chest to poke through. This is stylish and flattering because of the way the sleeves and shoulders fit in the shirt.

A longer coat will even your body type out nicely, while still allowing your hourglass figure to shine through. High waist jeans fit you nicely because of how your body type is, thus making it one of the best pairs of jeans you can wear.

You may find that none of the above body styles are quite descriptive of you. That’s okay, we’ll cover more in the future. Just know that you’re wonderful just the way you are. A treasure. A unique ONE. Someone worthy of care and DESERVING of the trendy, flirty or even strictly professional attire available on market today.
